I have been with horses for 51 of my 53 years. Once a competitive Jumper/hunter rider and trainer I left that world 19 years ago. I am owned by a Hanoverian mare-Doerte and a very loving Andalusian gelding, Oliver. I am an advocate of horses rights, an animal communicator, energy clearer, Rieki practitioner and clinician. I aim to give riders the same care I give the horses I work with. You cannot separate the two. Modern riding has invented many abuse for both horse and rider. I have created my own method of training based on the principles of AlohaI - alo - 1. sharing 2. in the present/ oha - joyous affection, joy/ ha- life energy, life, breath.."Joyfully sharing life". All my experience and training does not matter if I cannot use the above to help both rider and horse. I plan to have horses in my life until I draw my last breath.

I have been with horses for 51 of my 54 years. Once a competitive Jumper/hunter rider and trainer I left that world over 20 years ago. The Dilemma of Human Want

I often get called upon to talk with abused horses and the training/rehab of the abused horses is a subject I could talk about for a very long time but today I want to discuss the issue of human want versus what is best for our horses. What has any abused person or animal only […]

I Have a Suggestion

If you were at one of my clinics the very first thing I would say to you would be: “All that we ask our horses to do for us is based on our human goals and desires. I will go further and suggest that many of those goals are at the expense of our horse’s safety and well being.”

The 12 Step Program for an Equestrian

Train inside your commitment. It is the foundation you build your house on. Stay focused on your commitment. Things do not always move at the pace we think they ought to. The tiniest bit of movement in the direction we are seeking is triumph. Everything you do generates experience and growth. We cannot learn and grow […]

We Begin.

I am owned by an exquisite mare. We call her ‘The Diva’. She is opinionated, fiery, smart, and thinks people are pretty darn fun to hang out with. One sunny August day, seven years ago, she pushed through a herd of Hanoverian yearlings and planted herself right in front of me. This little filly just […]

What is your commitment?

Rolex has come and gone for this year. I am in awe of riders and especially horses that can endure such an athletic feat.  There is a heady excitement at show grounds at such a level. It can be intoxicating.  I know it all too well from my lifetime of showing.  Yet, I can no […]

Are You One of the Discarded?

It’s March and the weather is warming, then cooling, then raining, then snowing. My body is in a fight to survive this weather. I have Fibromyalgia and CFS/ME. I am in 24/7 pain and have exhaustion that can hit so severely that I cannot climb the stairs without my heart bounding and getting out of […]

A Case Study Humanized.

I have a lovely 13-year-old student who is much more mature than those years. She is gifted, committed and built to sit on a horse. She has been in a saddle since she was six. To each lesson she brings a mixed bag of anxiety, self doubt, fear of failure and extreme shyness. Her predisposition to anxiety causes […]

The Rough Seas of Being Human.

For as long as I can remember I have worshipped horses. One of my earliest memories is of cantering my imaginary horse around a field while my mother had her riding lesson. I was four years old.   I have lived and breathed horses my whole life. They are my sanctuary in a sometimes noisy and […]
